Nearby the region of Reguengos de Monsaraz, lies the birthplace of Esporão brand and its wine production beginnings. The combination of the environment and the archaeological heritage found here makes this place a open air museum. Among the great productions of Esporão are the wines Monte Velho, Alandra and Vinho da Defesa. As for premium wines, there has been great reviews of Esporão Reserve, Private Selection, Monocastas or the exclusive Torre do Esporão.
Recently, the popular north american Wine Enthusiast magazine has distiguished 10 wines of Esporão, and Herdade do Esporão Touriga Nacional 2008 has been awarded with 94 points and considered "cellar selection". The magazine refers to this wine as a "superb example of Touriga Nacional quality. This wine combines the warmth in Alentejo with the sophisticated structure of this variety. Juicy, perfumed and elegant fruit. Must age for 2 to 3 years".
On the other hand, Quinta dos Murças Reserve 2008 won the 5th place bettween 226 Douro wines awarded by Decanter Magazine, sold in 90 countries. Decanter considers this wine a "discreet nose with fresh blackberries. A young aroma, refined with firm and dry tannins. Fresh and balanced, with fragrant spices and a long and flourishing taste. Needs time".
Also, Esporão has established a partnership with Swiss Air Business, which now gives to the company the opportunity of selling Esporão Private Selection on board. Cheers!
